3. We've had an unexpected rain
coming down quite hard and steady for the last hour, can''t complain, it's cooled down by 10 degrees or so. I was trying to get everything in order for the latest hurricane anyway, so had cut the grass and weeded the garden to absorb the extra water anyway.
Saw a praying mantis laying an egg on the grapevine, left her alone. I wanted to get the video camera out, but decided not.
came inside and found the thorn in my palm from clearing the raspberries. Next year's crop should be sweet.

ouch.

6. Mine's lasted over 30 years
I've been pining for my lost high school sweetheart all my life. I hope you don't suffer the same. Good luck.

8. You sound like me Friar.
Even though I have remarried, I still have a very heavy heart concerning my ex-husband and the way he just walked out of our life after 7 years.

The hurt is still there.

9. Have you looked for her???
That is who I pine for too. I found her at classmates.com in Dec. of 01 and we IM and emails almost daily. But, alas, we are both unhappily married but in situations where there is little that can be done about it now for the sake of the kids.

I have pined for her since 1971 when we first broke up. Saw each other off and on for the next 8 years and no contact between that and '01.

I would do almost anything to get back with her, except screw the kids up. A few more years maybe when they have left the house.

Seriously, look for her, the feelings may be mutual and you never know what may happen. At the very least I have rediscovered my best friend for life and at best, if things work out in a few years, my soulmate.

11. unfortunately, almost the same
20 years instead of 30. I broke his heart and married someone else. He never married. I am single again and now he's marrying someone else. Deja vu. Love sucks, and so does karma.

13. I don't think it gets better with time
You may become resigned to it, but the yearning never goes away, I don't think. Here I am, with three photos on my desk of a man I haven't seen for nine years. We were never both free of entanglements at the same time. And then a woman more devious and richer than me came along.

It's almost like a country song.

16. Ouch...
My ex-husband is already over me, and dating a woman who is the physical opposite of me (six feet tall, two hundred some pounds).

I have decided to swear off that whole romance thing. It just ends up badly for me.

maybe it's a sort of karmic punishment

but I can't remember what I did that was so bad

oh wait, I know now:

I'm intrinsically no good
I've got a heart that's made of wood

(to quote Cake)

But I don't think that's true of you, AG

21. Here ya go...
"OUCH"!

I feel sympathy, a lot of sympathy for you, 'cause I know how badly that can hurt.

I don't think your heart ever mends when it's broken; with time, the pain simply becomes a part of you so it's hard to remember just how much you once hurt. But you're never who you were before it ever happened to you.
