Advice from more hip DUers than me.
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 05:57 PM by jchild

A kid at my son's school told my son that "mosh" means "fuck" in Japanese. Go figure--the rednecks' offspring here are multilingual.

When I was into the punk and metal scenes in the eighties, mosh meant to dance one's self into a frenzy--banging, stomping, romping, completely chaotic dancing.

Yes, we moshed in the eighties. :-)

But, never in all of my teen or early adult years did anyone ever tell me that "moshing" meant "fucking" in Japanese?

So that jchild jr. can refute this heinous allegation ;-) , can some kind DUers please define the word "Mosh," and perhaps provide the etymology if so inspired?

Thanks. :headbang:

1. You're right
because I am 19 and I know that you're right, and also because of community consensus: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=mosh&r=f

I told my kid to just tell him that he's just jealous that he doesn't have a mosh sweatshirt. ;-)

4. I have it on good authority that there is no actual profanity in Japanese.
So I would tend to doubt your son's friend's word.

11. In Japan, they answer the phone with "moshi moshi"...
...does that mean that they're really saying "fucki fucki"?

Never heard of that one before...
