I've Changed My Name

It's one that I've used on other boards and IRC since the early '90s. When I chose 'Labor_Ready'at DU, I didn't realize that it was the name of a temporary day labor company with a terrible record of treating its workers poorly, paying them poverty wages with no benefits or training, putting them in dangerous working conditions, and then punishing them when they complain.

Besides, I'm a proponent of more progressive causes than organized labor alone. Even though I have a labor background, I've been in management for about ten years. My organizing days are over, but I remain a firm union supporter and labor advocate.

That corporation is absolutely despicable. I did the same thing too. My previous name may have been misconstrued as pro-fascist so I changed it.

5. The company I work for uses labor-ready all the time .

I get to supervise them, on constuction projects, mostly demo. Those people have it tough, we pay $22 too labor-ready for a laborer, they get paid $10,, some interesting backgounds, Soldiers, CPA's, crack addicts..
