Get off your arses and see the aurora borealis!
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 09:48 PM by Baraka
Here's the current auroral activity map. Red is the highest intensity and blue is the lowest. Northern Hemisphere is the left map.

Happy viewing!

The map can be found here: http://www.sel.noaa.gov/pmap/

Here's a photo of some of the auroras last night just west of the Twin Cities here in MN:

They're never usally this bright!

3. I'd rather have blue than the clouds
that are covering the sky right now. I did see them last night right above me here in Wisconsin.

4. They're Visible in Southern Colorado Again Tonight!!!
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 09:56 PM by CO Liberal
We're about 100 miles south of Denver. I was just outside, and could see lines shooting across the sky and flashes behind the clouds as I looked north.

ON EDIT - We just went outside again. There was a series of flashes behind a cloud - first they were white, then they turned orange.

Ten miles west of Pueblo and 40 miles south of Colorado Springs. I was looking toward the Springs to see them.

5. I saw it last night
It looked like waves of high clouds. Unfortunately, it just looked white instead of the colours, but auroras of any sort are rare in Indiana, so I appreciate it anyway.

Thank you, sunspot 10696, for the show!

10. I was out last night for an hour--Absolutely Spectacular!
I seen some great Northern Lights over the years, and make a point of looking for them on every clear night, but last night was a doozy for this far south (48 N. Lat.) The entire sky, from horizon to horizon shimmered and flashed at a rate I've not seen, like the wind blowing across a pale green-blue wheat field. To the NOrth, the more standard, slowly shifting "drapes" swept in over a period of about thrity minutes, and then began shifting back north as I headed into the house.

These lights weren't much for color, (Over the years I've seen bright red, dull glowing yellows, and freaky near-emerald greens) but man were they active.

I hope they're just as good tonight!

Kurt
