Computer geeks - please help a friend of mine

I'm a computer geek (programmer) but I don't know shit about hardware. He as an Inspiron laptop and says it's behaving as though he's holding down the "Fn" key, but he's not holding it. Is there some way to lock that key down that I can tell him to use to unlock it?

There's always flashing the BIOS, but that's a little extreme for a stuck key.

The key is probably stuck. I had that happened to the windows key on a keyboard once. It was really annoying. I couldn't type anything.

Oh, damn... I just noticed you were talking about a laptop. Nevermind.
