No just Gypsy Kleeb or something like that, Roma dude Roma :D. Quirad, is a nickname I made for myself, quiet radical combined which is what I am.

37. Here it is
Why shouldn't I work for the N.S.A.? That's a tough one, but I'll give it a shot. Say I'm working at N.S.A. Somebody puts a code on my desk, something nobody else can break. So I take a shot at it and maybe I break it. And I'm real happy with myself, 'cause I did my job well. But maybe that code was the location of some rebel army in North Africa or the Middle East. Once they have that location, they bomb the village where the rebels were hiding and fifteen hundred people I never had a problem with get killed. Now the politicians are sayin', "Send in the marines to secure the area" 'cause they don't give a shit. It won't be their kid over there, gettin' shot. Just like it wasn't them when their number was called, 'cause they were pullin' a tour in the National Guard. It'll be some guy from Southie takin' shrapnel in the ass. And he comes home to find that the plant he used to work at got exported to the country he just got back from. And the guy who put the shrapnel in his ass got his old job, 'cause he'll work for fifteen cents a day and no bathroom breaks. Meanwhile my buddy from Southie realizes the only reason he was over there was so we could install a government that would sell us oil at a good price. And of course the oil companies used the skirmish to scare up oil prices so they could turn a quick buck. A cute little ancillary benefit for them but it ain't helping my buddy at two-fifty a gallon. And naturally they're takin' their sweet time bringin' the oil back, and maybe even took the liberty of hiring an alcoholic skipper who likes to drink martinis and play slalom with the icebergs, and it ain't too long 'til he hits one, spills the oil and kills all the sea life in the North Atlantic. So my buddy's out of work and he can't afford to drive, so he's got to walk to the job interviews, which sucks 'cause the shrapnel in his ass is givin' him chronic hemorrhoids. And meanwhile he's starvin' 'cause every time he tries to get a bite to eat the only blue plate special they're servin' is North Atlantic scrod with Quaker State. So what do I think? I'm holdin' out for somethin' better. Why not just shoot my buddy, take his job and give it to his sworn enemy, hike up gas prices, bomb a village, club a baby seal, hit the hash pipe and join the National Guard? I could be elected president.

I think that it might ruin the movie because it's got such a profound effect when Matt Damon acts it out, but whatever

GWH is a fantastic movie, you should see it! :)

9. I told them the same thing in 1998 when I graduated from HS ...
The US Marine Corp Band wanted me to join them , someone came to the school and heard me play ( the clarinet ) - Tried to lure me as a 17 year old with stories of playing at the White House and travelling around the world - I did not fall for it . Kindly told them that I was a manic depressive and they stopped calling lol .

19. You're a good Kid Kleeb, keep telling them you aren't interested.
Edited on Tue Nov-09-04 12:40 AM by NamVetsWeeLass
There are a few other tricks. Like "I shattered my Kneecap a year ago" works well. "I am deathly allergic to Bees" used to be a Disqualifier. "I had a severely fractured Skull and Brain injury when I was a kid" works almost everytime. "I have Lupus" works. What kept me out of the Marines is a fatty Lypoma Cyst on my back. I signed up and I was ready to go. ASVAB was decent, but I was told Nope. Basically there are Disqualifying things, and there are things they may accept if they are hard up enough. Ortho Surgery almost always is a Disqualifier. In any event, I wish you continued good grace, You are a Great guy.

22. I took the ASVAB my junior year of HS just for the fun of it ...
I did not want to sit through English so I decided to spend 2 hours or so taking the ASVAB . Got a good score and that is what led the other military branch recruiters calling me .

Yeah , just keep telling them that you are not interested .

42. Mine, too. I got a certificate for scoring high

on it. No recruiters called, though, 'cause they didn't much want girls. Pretty weird, now that I think about it. About ten of us got certificates (out of nearly 700 who took the test) and they didn't call me? Hmmphh!

23. That was what I did when they called me.
I'm not sure which branch of the armed forces called me, I can't remeber, but I just told them I wasn't interested. They won't call back, most likely. They call everyone once they turn 18 it seems, even girls like me.

I might have been 17 at the time too, I can't remember. They'll try to get you either right before you turn 18 or right after. I think you can sign up when you are 17, so that you can start serving right away when you turn 18 and graduate high school.

35. Stay far far away from these recruiters .
Its no holds barred . They talk to you , take you out of class , learn everything about you , become your " big brother " , driving you around town whenever you need it - then you're hooked .

I am not putting the military down because its a good career path to follow . Sometimes I think about joining the North Carolina National Guard but shhhhhhh don't tell them that ;)

In all seriousness that's fucked. Man, I guess it's something I never dealt with as a Canaian.

The only time we saw the recruiter was once in grade 12 when he came to school to talk, on career day. And even then it was completely voluntary to go. I went, don't know why.

You can serve your country in a war zone and use it to take advantage of the GI bill then go to school. After that you can run for office and have "Swift Boats vets for truth" ad run against you.
