To the veterans, god bless you all
and to those who never made it home, we will always remember you and god bless you too. I have a lot of vets in my family and I am happy to say all made it home except for one,
RIP Mike Strank, you make me proud to be a Slovak.
A book I recommend is Flags of Our Fathers.

7. A TOAST to the vets, I get misty eyed thinking about that...
Our family has been in every war but this one, most made it back. To those that did not, and those that were their Brothers-in Arms - :loveya:  :toast: :grouphug:

13. Give them time. I don't have any relatives in it either, but
I have some in the range of possibility, dammit.

16. My office does a lot of work for Veterans, and these guys are great
I work in a law office and many of our clients are Vets and service people, as one of the laywers is an expert in Military Law.

They are some of the finest people I have ever met. A few years ago, one of them, a US Army Veteran from WWII (and I found out, a very solid Maryland Democrat) let me conduct a number of interviews with him on his service. He was an officer, a Captain, and he served on Okinawa, in the Phillipines and in the Aleutians with the 7th Infantry Division. After the war he used the GI bill to go to Harvard and became a civil engineer.
He had more than a few hair raising stories. A fine man, he represents the best America has to offer

23. Veterans
When the last war call has sounded
And the fleet will sail no more
When a lasting peace is founded
And no enemy threatens our shore
When at last they write the story
And the reason for Victory is seen
You will rise in honored glory
YOU MIGHTY SUBMARINE

To all the Veterans, and especially the memory of
DW Morton USS Wahoo
RH Okane USS Tang
