Update on Richard
Richard's latest visit to the vet:

The senior doc at our clinic, Dr. Newman, reviewed the x-rays & other info gathered by Richard's doc, Dr. Siskovich. Dr. N. couldn't find the mass that Dr. S. found. (?) He could see something on the x-ray, but could find nothing but healthy tissue on the ultrasound -- healthy tissue and fat. He said whatever's in there, he can't see it because Richard is so fat.

So, after an extensive ultrasound (Richard was such a good boy!) and a thorough physical exam and Q&A, I took Richard home with instructions to keep him isolated, give him an antibiotic twice a day, take his temperature regularly (!), and give him a large dose of Petromalt daily.

He's still somewhat lethargic, but I think his eating has returned to normal.

Thanks for all your support. I was terrified of losing my boy.

8. I'm so glad to hear this. Thanks for keeping us posted.
Is there any possibility you can get one of those thermometers that take temp. through the ear? Do those work on animals?

My experience with cats says he won't like it no matter which orifice you use, but the ear might be less, er, unpleasant for you anyway.

10. Either way -- ear or *ahem* -- we'll be spit & growled at.
We'll just have to trim his claws (all four sets) first. I haven't even taken his temp once yet.... can't wait. :scared:

11. You have my most sincerest sympathy. I hope all turns out
well for you both.

What about wraping him "papoose" style in a blanket? Maybe work better for both of you?

Just adding my suggestions to everything I bet you've already thought about doing.

13. Richard will be fine, and so will we.
But just in case... if you live anywhere near Charles County, MD, you might wanna go donate a pint of blood. ;)

16. lol - I'd be first in line if I did. And thank you for letting my grammar
pass. Eek, that was awful.

I'll donate blood Monday here in Vegas. I'll be thinking of you and yours while I do so. While hoping it's never needed.

And at least two people.

(anally)

I don't know if they have ear-thingies for animals.
