Today is Dad Adder's birthday!
My dad the lifetime Republican turns 64 today...10 days after early-voting for Kerry. Sure, it didn't affect the outcome, but I really appreciate it anyway. If you appreciate it too, give it up for Dad Adder! Many happy returns, and may Social Security still exist when he retires in a couple years!

I remember when you posted that he was voting for Kerry, I'm glad you're able to get through to your family members. :)

5. I'll never forget the 1st Plaidder story I read... it was about Dadder
Taking you to the Board of Trade. Having spent many years "in the pits", and having taken my daughters on the floor many times, I could certainly relate.

Happy Birthday Dad Adder, and thanks for a great daughter!

6. You're makin' that up, chiburb...but it's still a good memory!
I think you're probably thinking of "Futures Shock," in which I do quote my dad a lot, but he's never taken me to the Board of Trade. I used to go down there on my own while I was in the city. However, my dad has taken me to work many times, so it's close enough for government work.

If you're an ex-pit trader you should really read Caryl Churchill's *Serious Money.* It's a musical about the "big bang" in England in the 1980s and there are some great trading-floor scenes. I wish I coudl see it staged but the odds are small.

C ya,

8. You're right, it WAS Futures Shock...
Spending all those years on the floor has cost me some brain cells. Or maybe it was hitting the bars every day after work?

It's the thought that counts?

(Thx for the tip on Serious Money.)
