English teachers help me!!!
Okay, I'm almost embarrassed to admit this one but I'm in my third year of college and I'm still unsure about the rules of paraphrasing. I'm writing a paper for my bible class and I'm just trying to give some general background information. I just wrote a paragraph (its a rough draft)

Scholars have concluded that at least four sources were used in writing this gospel. Upon analysis, 90% of Mark’s gospel, information from the Q document as well as the Matthean source and different versions of Jesus’ birth and "post resurrection appearances" can be found within Matthew (Harris pg 424-425).

Is the citation that I included at the end implied for the whole paragraph or just the last sentence? What are the general citation ruled for paraphasing?

Thanks in advance!

1. If all that info came from the same source
i.e. Harris p 424-25, then it's fine as posted.

3. The citation seems okay
I'm not an English teacher, but was an undergrad Eng major and went on to get a Masters in writing... you might want to consider a comma or two in your second sentence. I'm not sure what my grammatical argument would be, but the series is confusing.

Perhaps comma placement after "Q document," and again after "'post resurrection appearances,'" would help. Of course, placement depends entirely on what you're trying to communicate.

Good luck with your paper!

5. I'd do it this way to be more technically correct
(Harris 424-425) (i.e., without the "pg"). I'd also edit that passage significantly if I were you: the second sentence is a bit messy.

6. will do...
it's just a rough draft. I like writing a shell of a paper first and then going back to fill it in a fix the rough spots later. But I love constructive criticism so it is duly noted
