15. This is Stephanie
I checked "other."

I would be very concerned about the state of the FBI if they had a file on me. I am the single most boring person on the face of the planet--I don't even have a speeding ticket.

I used to hope that the SS guys would come check me out so I could show them why they should vote Democrat, but none of them ever did.

I was interviewed by the FBI in the early 90s about a murder investigation in Baltimore, even though I've never been to Baltimore. Apparently the victim's credit card had been used after his death and the user/suspect had called the credit card company to inquire about the victims credit line. I had also called in to the company that day. As I was told by the agent, they were tracking down and interviewing everyone on the day's phone log.

I've often wondered if there may be more to it than I was told adn if there were other "issues" in my file. Someday I will get around to filing a FOIA request.

Edited to add: I found this "FOIA kit" online. End the speculation, find out for yourself if you have an FBI file.

http://www.eff.org/Activism/FOIA/foia.kit

Or go staright to the FBI:

18. I've had an FBI file since 1985
When I first got a job for the Federal Government. In the mean time, I've had jobs all relating to the Federal Government. Look, basically the career FBI is not going to go after you if you are a Democrat or whatever (at least that's the way it used to be). I don't know. All I can tell you is that there are many ordinary people working for the government and they aren't out to get you.

24. I'm not trying to imply that the government is out to get us or anything
It's just a hypothetical situation. I was inspired since we've 'officially' been reported by some freepers to homeland security.

22. I know they have one one me. The first time (that I know of) that an FBI
file was opened on me was when I was 19 and got a Federal Gov't job. The second time was when I got into substitute teaching... I was charged $40.00 for the FBI to open an investigation on me.

Hey, both times I wanted the job and it was a requirement...

36. Not too surprised.
My first husband did a hitch in the Air Force, I imagine as his dependent wife they probably did at least a cursory background check on me, as well. He had at least a 'Secret' security clearance, and I know they interviewed some of his high school teachers, so it'd be little surprise if there was a file of some kind on me somewhere. Wouldn't have much in it, I expect, but it may very well exist.

40. when I read they massive files on kerry because of his anti war
protests - I was incredulous - our country does not like people who don't like war

At the time, I was too uninformed to realized how stupid the war was - I just thought everyone should just be supportive - so I guess I was like a dumb rw today - but without the religion over tones

boy I knew as soon as bush ran the first time we were going to have a war if he got in - and I have been against it since

so any of us on du - they probably already have files
