The reality TV craze is the sinister lead up to live mortal combat on TV. Viewers will be able to give an emporer's thumb up-thumb down via their mobile phone or home computer. Sorta like the Running Man.

they won't go that far. Not at first, anyway. They'll start by having the "home viewing audience" act as jury in a capital case, deliver their "verdict" at the end of a rigged 2-hour presentation of "evidence", and vote on the innocence or guilt of the accused....then they'll get to vote on his method of execution, and watch it take place. THEN they'll move to mass "trials" and gladiatorial combat to the death...maybe they'll bring back stoning, to keep the fundamentalists happy, too....
