6. Here's the link
but be warned that the title is 'cat lovers, do not read this war report' or something... and the poster did not cite their source.

31. have you heard the Blind Boys of Alabama sing that?
"Sometimes, I feel, like a mooootherless child (motherless child)"?

Damn they're good! If you haven't, go get "Spirit of the Century" and prepare to have your socks blown off.

And this is a heartbreaking photo. I avoided that thread in GD...

5. Awwww! I wonder if somebody adopted the cat.
I saw a segment on Animal Planet once which told a story of a soldier in Iraq who adopted a puppy he found behind a trash bin. It was arranged for the puppy to be flown to the US (Texas) while the soldier was still in Iraq. That was a lucky puppy. Just goes to show you the kind of big-hearted people there are over there fighting for this country.

9. This was in this month's Cat Fancy.
Good article on how the soldiers are finding all these abandoned animals and taking them into their barracks as mascots and friends.

A hundred virgin she-cats will greet him in the afterlife.

SHE'S a girl! So what does she get in the afterlife? Or does her family just get a $25,000 reward?

17. Not an uber scientist here, but here goes...
the cat is a calico, and therefore a female. Most calicos are female due to genetics ( a sex linked gene, which accounts for most ginger tabbies being male). A male calico is very rare and most are sterile.

20. She's a girl
It has to do with inheriting two X chromosome genes rather than silencing one of them, or something like that. It has been way too long since I studied that.

In a nutshell female mammals are special. :)

and only one is silenced in any cell.

24. This is one of the best anti-war photos I have ever seen
The photographer should get a prize.

But the Soldier needs his fucking head examined if he is, as it appears, on guard... cause he aint looking out for himself or his buddies.

36. Afghanistan is the location...
...of this photo, one of the bases there had cats all over the place so the Army cleaned them out. Unfortunately, the rats and other feral creatures started taking the kitties place. So the Army let the cats take the base back over - no more rats...

Saw this photo earlier in the summer and I still really like it.
