1. The Oregonian dropped "Miss Manners" years ago...

The Pacific Northwest's largest daily paper saw no need to continue her column ( I have to interject here and say I read it whenever I had the time and had a paper nearby)...For several years now the Living section (you know, the "liberal " part of the paper) has featured....well shit....lots of stupidity...

But I personally believe in manners! And will continue to do so until I'm a lonely old man who dies by getting beaten to death by a crowd of young toughs, who know nothing of manners, on my way to pick up some groceries at the nearby Safeway...

I never cease to be amazed at just how downright rude, crude and lewd people can be when posting anonymously on the net . . . if their mamas ever saw what they were saying, they'd have their mouths washed out with soap (or their typing fingers ground down with sandpaper) . . .

this ties in neatly with my goal in life of "Confusing as many people as humanly possible." --- since it's a well known fact that in truth, I hate everyone.

7. Well, you don't have to like someone to be courteous to them.

And it's often easier when you DON'T like them.

That's one of the functions of manners in a civilised society: They're one of those little things that keep us from exploding and just killing one another.
