If Brit Hume calls you that long enough, will that make you stop counting votes and investigating voting problems?

-Just wondering.

cool name, pure ass.. when i first saw him, i thought he might be decent newsperson but then he started in on clinton and it was obvious that he would never be fair. he is not much higher on the evolution scale than o'reilly and limbaugh. horrible human beings are influencing our silly assed neighbors every day. that bothers me as much as bush being our president.

22. This election was monitored ESPECIALLY carefully
There has been NO evidence of fraud. Bush won it by three and a half million votes. Bush won Ohio substantially. PLEASE let us not go through this again. The people have spoken. Let's accept it, then figure out how to win next time.

21. You're kidding, right?
Do you think that having gotten away with what they did in Florida in 2000 (later counts done by newspapers found that Gore won Florida, in case you didn't read those stories) and the countless efforts at voter intimidation and suppression (calling people and telling them their precinct had changed so they would go to the wrong precinct and perhaps cast provisionals which would not be legal, too few machines in heavily Democratic precints so that people had to wait HOURS to vote, threatening to challenge voters, the list is SOOOO much longer than that), do you think that having partisan Secretaries of State who makes decisions constantly in favor of their candidate and against their opponent, do you think having the machines for counting and voting being supplied by rabid Repugs... all that isn't fraud, in and of itself? What would they have to do to make you think there was a problem, pick off Democratic voters with an AK-47 as they stood in line to vote? And the awful thing is, they probably will get away with it, because it truly is just TOO AWFUL TO CONTEMPLATE that they would be willing to win at any cost. But, guess what? There's every reason to believe that they are so SURE that they are RIGHT about EVERYTHING, that rigging an election would be a small price to pay for them to make sure they won. After all, we don't live in some Banana Republic where we have violent coups with blood flowing the street. We live in a perfectly respectable country where if you control the voting mechanism, you can steal it fair and square and nobody can prove a damn thing, unless you can get them to confess. Welcome to our nightmare.

23. NO evidence of fraud in 2000 and none here
The votes were recounted in Florida all right....Bush was found to be the winner each time.
In 2000, there were a number of post-facto claims of voter fraud, but no evidence that Republicans cooked the books or cheated. Seeing how the disputed Florida counties were mostly Democrat, controlled by Democrats, and counted by Democrats, why would we assume that Republicans sneaked in there and cheated?
Look, we are all disappointed in the outcome just as we were in 2000, but if we do this stuff in Ohio, they could just as easily do it in Michigan and PA. Nobody cheated. The people decided. It's over. Now, let's regroup.

26. Always count the money, son
And your proof of that assertion is...what?

This isn't about who wins and who doesn't, or even about who (in particular) cheated or didn't cheat. This is about the fact that our democracy is being run third parties in a manner that is not transparent, is manifestly not impartial, and clearly does not inspire trust.

Ignoring the problem (even if it is only imaginary) is not the correct solution. In many other fields, from particle physics to investment banking, the correct answer to this sort of problem is well known. In the banking world, the expression is "audit the hell out of the situation" while in physics the line is "torture the data and it will confess" but the meaning is the same. Drill down till you find hard facts, follow them to whatever conclusion, and don't let up until you've found the truth. Do everything in the open, and don't get fooled by what you (or anyone else) wants the answer to be.

That is how you move on.

-- MarkusQ

P.S. For all we know, the election might, as you assert, have been fair and honest. Or the exit polls might have been cooked. Or either party may have cheated. Or both parties might have cheated. Or someone might have cheated on the behalf of either party, without their knowledge. Heck, this might be the next tricky trick from Mr. bin Ladden, and next time he'll give us Pee Wee Herman as a surprise write-in winner. The point is, we won't know until we look, and look hard.

If you haven't read it, you might want to check out Clifford Stoles (sp?) book "The Cuckoo's Egg", about his quest to track down a $0.23 accounting error which led to the discovery of an international cracker ring.

33. one word: www.gregpalast.com
Greg Palast is the journalist who not only uncovered voter fraud in FL, but also uncovered the "purge lists" used by Katherine Harris that wrongly denied 70,000+ people their right to vote in FL. Most of the names on the purge lists were African-American, a group that voted for Gore 90% of the time in 2000.

Of course, you wouldn't know of any of this unless you read the press outside of the U.S.

And that's not even MENTIONING the Black Box Voting issues this year...

Granted, Kerry was never my first choice, and I really did not like his campaign, but there was more at work than just "inaccurate exit polls" this year.

30. How soon we forget
I remember a friend of my father's giving pretty much the same advice.

He said that there was no credible evidence that the Republican party had done any of the things they were being accused of, and even if some low-level party hacks had gone over the line there wasn't a chance in the world that the president had anything to do with it. Saying otherwise just got you labeled a conspiracy theory nut-job. Break into the Democratic Party National Headquarters? Use the CIA to do campaign dirty tricks? Try to disenfranchise black voters? Get over it. Nixon won fair and square and there's no point making your self look silly dwelling on it.

What kind of name is that anyway, Brit Hume ? Brit Hume is a loser, I mean look at him, he's got that shit all over his hair and his complextion is just awful, like there are these really huge dips, or crevaces, something on his face. And he acts like he's constipated. I mean, look at the guy, he looks like he hasn't taken a shit in a month. He's all puffy, and pink like, he looks like he needs to get out in the sun or something, he's just so flabbed out. And his clothes. give me a break. Those clothes have got to go. This guy needs a n extreme makeover. I bet he has bad breath too. Yuck, ooooh yuck yuck yuck. Gives me the willies just looking at him.
