I've seen her perform solo and with the New Pornographers (about whom: WOW, whodathunk any good could come out of Zumpano?). Great shows, both, of 'em.

4. She's a goddess.

If you peruse her website, you'll see that she spent a lot of time/lived in Vancouver on her way "up". In fact, she "cut her teeth" at a little place called the Railway Club, a smokey, martini-swillin' alt/country/folk joint which seats about 50 in front of the stage.

Saw her countless times there back in the late 90's; I feel very privileged that I did. It was one of those cases where you say to yourself: "I'll never see her in this type of glorious dive again."

6. I saw her open up for Southern Culture on the Skids in '98

Obviously, I was very impressed.

She played with her Boyfriends that evening.
