2. I don't think it really helps
I mean, people don't know if they're on someone's buddy list do they?

Maybe there's some kind of buddy list karma, where we get a warm feeling all over, but don't know why

4. Actually, it helps a lot. If you want to pm someone - you just
go to your buddy list and click on their name rather than find one of their posts and click on the "send private message" icon. Also, when the features are turned off and you can't search for someone, you can still use your buddy list to pm them instead.

32. I think I have seven people at the moment. But, I do pm other people
as well, not just those on my buddy list.

I pm people if they put in a late response to my thread and I don't want to kick it again, but I want to acknowledge them.

I use the private message feature to respond to people on a more personal level - if I have something to contribute to what someone says, but I don't necessarily want it to be public information.
