at the Social Security office

I was at the Social Security office taking care of bidness. As usual, the front wall contains pictures of the current in-office officials. The chimp is smiling like the cat that ate the canary down on all of us.

A mom with two little girls is sitting in front of me. The older girl says "Look mom that's bush." The mom starts talking about why she does not like bush. She mentions election fraud and education. Not loud or ranty, real calm. The little girls are listening. The older one chimes in about how the war in Iraq is wrong. From my eavesdropping I gleaned they have family in the service.

For all I know the mom hits DU everyday, but I don't think so. It felt good to hear someone saying the things I read here out loud, in a government office, to children as an instruction on right from wrong. Made me feel hopeful.

Maybe that's why I have all the restraining orders!
