DU Mac User Group?
Edited on Fri Nov-12-04 02:08 PM by cheezus
are there 9 other starred mac users out there? DUMUG could be a great place to trade tech support, find new software, maybe even find people that you can actually play games with

Mission Statement:
The mission of the DU Mac User Group (DUMUG) is to provide a community dedicated to enhancing our techonolgy experience by sharing information, support and insights with Macintosh computer users on Democratic Underground.

The group has been created!

but hopefully I will be switching jobs soon.
and leaving this NEW in March P.O.S. behind.

hoping that I can talk the new employer into picking me up a new 12" powerbook, as I will be travelling extensively for the position and very autonomous.

15. love me some diablo
I formed an unnatural affection for a necromancer named chuck. I played that character all the way thru d2 lod. Toward the end I could barely tell where he was for all the resurrected creatures. Talk about an entourage!

That isn't OSX native now, is it?

20. There is a patch.
It's very buggy, I have to play it on 256 colors (yuk) or it runs soooo slow. You know that isn't good for a melee!

24. That is good to hear.
When that game first came out, I lost so much sleep. It has been long enough since I last played that I would go full bore obsessive again if I could get it running well in OSX. Ever play the druid?

33. I spent 2 months addicted to it after I got it.
Never played the druid. I've been thinking of starting another character that I haven't played. I had a lvl. 64 barb and saved my data files (to play him again someday)-very rare armor and weapons. One of my students suggested I try a bowamazon, so I'm doing that right now.
Anyway, I started again recently after I got an external drive to store my game files on (over 1GB, too much space on a 10GB HD). I also play with a Wacom stylus and tablet instead of a mouse. Much more natural since I hold it like a pen. When I want to fire my weapon, I tap the pen on the tablet.

43. I like the wacom idea.
I have not been addicted to any game like I was to DII. I tried sacred, throne of darkness and divine divinty. They are PC based diablo knock-offs. Not the same.

a nice little turn based game where you get to do a campaigns. There are castles to plunder and resources to manage. It stopped bothereing with mac versions when OSX came out.

45. Civilization III is also turn based.
The game starts at 4000 BC with your settler and worker i.e. Romans, Persians etc. and you build your civilization until you conquer the world, culturally win, win the space race, win some other way, or the game ends in 2100 AD. I've played the various versions for years.

28. Not really ....
stilling mastering Mac (I'm big on using hotkeys), but a lot of the Windows ones and similar enough.

Also, I have a desktop at work and a 17 G4 powerbook at home, so when I'm at a machine, I subconsciously know which key patterns to use.
