8. I have no idea
I always think he's dead, then he keeps appearing in new television shows. How is that possible?

15. That's Grace Kelly with all the 1955 Oscar winers, and she is gorgeous.
She has always set my heart a-twitter. Too bad she married that toad of a prince, and began to fill her empty life with drinking.

My God, she's been dead for 22+ years now!

7. He was terrifying in "From Here to Eternity"...
Played the murderous "Fatso," head of the stockade. Best the hell out of anyone he felt like.

Another in a long line of "freeper villains."

9. When Disney wanted to dip a toe into PG rated films...
Edited on Fri Nov-12-04 02:37 PM by htuttle
Ernest was the man they called on to give the (cuss) word in the film 'Black Hole'-- and I think it was either, 'Shit!' or 'Damn!'. First swear word in a Disney film, IIRC.

19. Poor Ernest
Reduced to selling internet kiosks.

At time this guy was a pretty good actor in his own way. Lost of people like that.

To another point. Has anyone noticed the absolute deterioration of the content of television during Reublican administrations. Or even in REpublican Administrations in whihc there is great controversy but a string Democratic leadership in Congress. Let see, We had shows like all the Family and MASH during the 70's. MASH started out more comedy tha soial commentary, but at least programming had some value in getting people to look at issues. Even in the late 80's and 90's shows like Murphy Brown or Mad About You or even Designing Women pointed at importanyt social issues. Periods like the 50's had Leave it to Beaver, and this current period of Republican dominations of all of the brances of Government lead to a complete unwillingness of television to relect what is going on in society. They go uts about Janet Jackson's tit, nad yet they allow the government to prevent all news about what is actually going on in Iraq. At lease during Vietnam and even WWII, the public was made aware of everything that went one. The victories AND the defeats. The Bush Administation and the conservatives complain that the all the media does is point out the bad, uet the administration so heavily censors what comes out of Iraq, that no one can make up thier minds about Iraq based on facts.Everything is censored. even letters from home. CEnsorship is complete to the degree that acces to web sites that might tell what is going ono are not accesible from the U.S. The United Nations media broadcasting web site is blocked to American viewers.

It very much reminds me of the news reoprts given in 1984, about the distant wrs, and the propraganda that was given in place of News.

THe BUsh Administration, taking note of the use off the meedia during Vietnam, to alllow the public to actually see much of the daily horriros of war was not lost on them. So they prevent the American Public from actually seeing what is going on. No informed decisions, just what you are told.

21. Hey don't dis Ernie...
...He was in some great movies. He won the Academy award for best actor in Marty, he was in From Here to Eternity, and The Dirty Dozen.

But after he killed his image in those disaster flicks, it did all start to go downhill for the old alcoholic.
