Anyone for a DU Martial Artists group?
We can discuss theory and application, styles, comparitive approaches to self defense, discuss ranks, teaching, our instructors...

I am a student of Hapkido, Kuhapdo, and Kumdo, and would love to meet other like minded folks. I can write a mission statement if there is enough interest.

2. well, it's not the size, it's how well you use it :)
We have a huge strength training sword at the Dojang, which is still a little shorter than a Daichi, and swinging that thing around makes my arms go numb.

4. I study
Northern and Southern Shaolin Kung Fu, Ba Gua, Tai Chi Chuan, Tiger and Crane, weapons training, and Shotokan.

The Shotokan doesn't really fit in but it's a program I can do with my daughter.

Count me in. Do you happen to be a large man? I don't think you conveyed that point clearly enough.

9. Hapkido and Aikido are brothers
they spring from the same Dojo and teacher. What fencing do you mean? Traditional fencing with a foil, or Kenjitsu/Iaido?

10. Both actually
but I use saber instead of foil. I've played around a little bit with iaido, and adapted sword use for katana too.

12. My son's do progressive kenpo-jitsu
Edited on Fri Nov-12-04 03:02 PM by lovedems
but they are starting to lose their interest. My oldest is an advanced purple belt, middle is a purple belt and third is advanced yellow. Youngest doesn't want to do kenpo, he wants to play basketball! He is obsessed!

I am torn because I would really like them to keep it up but on the other hand it is so freaking expensive if they don't like it anymore I don't want to pay that much money for something they aren't enjoying!
