So, who has had a suck-ass week? Best tale of misery wins a prize.

So, what'll you have? First one is one me.

25. single malt for all my friends
Okay, this is post #3 for yours truly on this board, and as it's Friday and the week hasn't exactly been a Hallmark card come to life, I'm about to tie into the better part of a bottle of Glenfiddich.

It all stared when an insane guy, quite literally insane (he had his case worker with him) requested a house inspection (I'm the housing inspector for my county here in the Crotch of the Tri-State area.

He complained that the spiders and snakes were eating the foundation of his home. When I observed no damage to the foundation, nor any evidence that there were, indeed spiders and snakes active in the immediate area, the lunatic became rather vocal in his disgust with my proficiency at the inspection process.

Needless to say, his case worker was no help in calming him down, and we both beat a hasty retreat form his presence.

Set 'em up, bartender! And could someone put some Sinatra on the jukebox?

I was not a regular poster Here, just a reader and was caught up in the excitement of the election, the positivity of the whole thing. I could see the Kerry victory as plainly as I can now see my son's face today and never thought the Freepers could pull it off again, steal the election.

24. Well, let's see
I found out my insurance was cancelled because I didn't file some paperwork that no one told me I was supposed to file. As soon as I found out, I filed the paperwork and was told that, because it was late, my application for an extension of benefits would most likely be turned down and then I'd have to file an appeal which would probably be granted. However, it will all take several weeks, if not a month or more.

That's really about it this week except that I'm deperately poor but that's every week.

I'll have an Irish coffee for now, I think, heavy on the Irish. Thanks! :toast:

85. Absinthe does exist and is legal in England. Don't think it is anywhere
else. Been meaning to get over there just to try some, right after I win the lottery.

89. I've tasted it once
A couple of years ago a guy from Brazil had snuck a bottle into the US. He showed us how to heat it up and drink it in what he considered proper style.

I didn't drink enough to notice any special kind of buzz.

92. It's legal in most of Europe.
Most European countries legalized it a few years ago. You can order it off the internet. Just stay away from the Czech stuff. I bought my 1st bottle when I was in London. It was La Fee, which is rated as a good quality absinthe and it's approved by the absinthe museum. I ordered two bottles off their website in the spring. I was shocked, because they got here within a week. It's not illegal to have it shipped to the US (subject to standard 2 bottles alcohol importation rule) and it's not illegal to own it here. It's just illegal to actually sell it within this country. Once again, an example of US drug laws not making any sense.

It takes awhile to get used to the licorise taste, but it's a fun drink. Just don't mix it with as much water as La Fee suggests (they suggest 7 parts water). It's much better with a 50-50 mix.

Next on my list to try is mescal.
