7. I know!! And I used to love him.
He lives here in AZ. But he's got this fledgling country singing thing going so I guess he's gotta go that way. Bummer.

10. You know, I also heard that he is very Republican.
I know that he is Irish but he might be a citizen because of his (new) wife. He is also a relatively conservative Catholic and I understand (don't know could be gossip)that he is very cheap and doesn't tip! Sounds Republican to me! I remember because I like Peirce and was disappointed. I sure hope I am wrong!

12. I don't know
he was on a talk show a couple days ago where he mentioned that the one of the reasons for becoming a citizen is because the last 4 years have been very long and he wanted to have some say, and then he shook his head.

Anyway - Irish Catholic? traditionally Democrat

15. yep Irish Catholics are traditionally democrats
Its not just the Kennedy's, in fact Irish Catholics are one of the most tolerant groups along with the Jewish. I had no idea that Brosnan was Irish though, always pegged him as a Brit, hes from the better island after all.

17. Maybe you would be interested in this
Being of Irish decent myself and most of my friends Jewish, I learned that during the war, Ireland took in a lot of Jewish refugees from Europe. The assimilation was really quick and the Jewish people became successful business people and won elective offices. I believe this was around Dublin.
Now, most of the Jewish families have left Ireland and the synogogues have closed.

There are not many examples of cultures assimilating so well and maybe you already knew this - but I love thinking about it! A human success story!

18. I didnt know that
Good for them. Shame they didn't say, those two cultures intermingled would have been a nice social fabric there. Its funny because many people who dont like Ireland like to say stuff like they were supporting the Germans secretly which is hogwash. Wasn't there an Irish president with Jewish decent? or a Taositich. The Irish Catholics have always been strong democrats, not just in new england but all around, my grandmother was from Pittsburgh and a very Irish Catholic and devout democrat too.

19. There is a legend you know, that Ireland is the lost tribe of Israel.
Edited on Sat Nov-13-04 03:57 AM by saracat
My Dad used to say that was why the Irishmen and the Jews always practiced law together! He was an Irish lawyer but his favorite example of the two nationalities doing business together was a restaurant called "O'Brien's Kosher Delicatessen". No Joke . It was real!

Said in an interview that he became an American citizen so that he could vote for Kerry. He's a liberal Catholic-has very bad memories of being raised by the Christian Brothers in Ireland before moving to London at age 11.

11. Celebs In My Zip Code, For Kerry!
Suprised to see these celebs in my zip code "neighbor giving" search. Lily Tomlin & Rene Russo, I believe they used an agent's address or something on Ventura Blvd. but Christina Applegate is listed, with her real address & Ed Begley Jr. too.

21. As far as people saying he's a republican, I doubt it. He said that Arnold
becoming governor and the recall, was a horrible thing, or something like that. I forget if it was before or after Arnold was elected, but he made it very clear he was vehimently against the recall

22. If he was, he seems to be pretty liberal now. I got something in the
mail from some wildlife protection group that had a message from him. It was about the Navy's sonar use making whales beach themselves. Not a very republican cause.
