Poll question: Favorite Desi Arnaz song
Edited on Wed Sep-17-03 11:51 AM by ronnykmarshall
I love the music from "I Love Lucy". Desi Arnaz was the coolest. Some of the songs I can't remember the title so I'll post some of the lyrics.

2. Babalu, when he hosted SNL!
Big conga line with all the cast and crew. A magic TV moment.

10. I wish I'd seen that.
But his version of Babalu is far from the best. I wish I knew the name of another Cuban tenor who sang the shit out of that song.

15. Gloria Estefan did it
Not all of the song, but when she sang "Conga" live she'd sing some of the lines.

20. It's definitely not her version I'm thinking about.
This was a tenor from the early 1950s, I think. Beautiful, acrobatic voice.

They did some spoofs of "I Love Lucy" and Desi Jr. played Ricky Ricardo.

9. How about some of his great lines

That was when he was "tichin' Loosey a lesson" when that nosey ass reporter said that she needed to treat him like a star. I loved the look on Lucy's face when he asked "where should I put my ashes?". You can just see her thinking "you can shove 'em up your ass!!".

25. That's another favorite of mine!
Lucy really could sing up a storm, though Lucy Ricardo couldn't, just as the fictional Lucy couldn't get into show business! That was a truly groundbreaking show!:-)

21. I had a Desi Arnaz and his orchestra CD
loved that Latin music. He was a very underrated man. I voted for "Cuban Pete"--I especially enjoyed the episode where he and Lucy sang and danced to "Cuban Pete and Sally Sweet".

I read her autobiography and he was definitely the brains of the team and was also quite talented. Lucy, I just love. :loveya:
