DU youth, say hello here! (12-20)
Hi. I think us young 'uns need a thread to our own. So this is a place to say hi and things. Tell us your age (Or just an age-ish), who you are, if you could vote, did you vote, and a little about yourself.

I'll start.

I'm a 13 year old. I love music and I play saxophone and piano and am in the school band. I love anime, art, music, the Who, reading, writing, and social studies. When I grow up, I want to go to colledge and become an author or journalist.

I am 18, but in college, so I don't consider myself a youth anymore.

If ya could vote, ya ain't a youth!

6. Excellent!
Cool cool coooool! After all, why should the grown-ups get all the fun?

Ok, I too am 13 (14 on Thanksgiving) and love anime, especially Excel Saga. My favorite stuff to do is reading, writing, and getting out of the house to go anywhere. When I get out of college (Berkeley, I hope) I ALSO want to be an author or journalist (foreign correspondant preferably). I'm a vegetarian and a Sagittarius.

I think it's awesome that you started this, and I hope to frequent it!

22. Hey all (17 yo here)...
HS senior at an all-girls Catholic college prep school (blech...extremely conservative).

Two parents (both teachers getting paid crap, my dad works three jobs) and a younger brother (age 13).

I love politics, but not as a career. I've been reading since I was three, and it's all I do if and when I have free time. I read a wide range of stuff (fantasy, fiction, biography), but it generally revolves around history or politics, with the occasional badly written romance novel thrown in the mix.

I've always been a history buff, especially in areas like ancient Rome, and medieval and Renaissance/Reformation Europe. I think I want to work in academia (history) as a career--which involves getting an advanced degree if I have the money. I love travel, so I'd be happy traveling arond and living in Europe doing research at a university and possibly teaching.

Right now, I'm struggling through senior year, volunteering at an inner city grade school, and taking French at the local community college, just for the hell of it.

I love the arts--drama, music, art, etc. (even though I'm not good at any of it). I love movies (crappy romances and whatnot excepted), especially comedies like Python (see screen name) and Mel Brooks. I can't list all my favorites, or explain them as some sort of genre, it's all a sort of hodgepodge. Old British TV, like Monty Python's Flying Circus and sitcoms like Fawlty Towers, IMO, is amazing.

I'm going through an extremely stressful senior year, and struggling to get in all my college applications.

Hello. :)

28. Hi everyone.
:hi:

I'm 12 and in 7th grade. If I could have voted it would've been for Kerry. I love Xbox - my favorite games are Halo, Halo 2, Tony Hawk's games, and 007 Nightfire. Currently, my favorite music groups are Blue Oyster Cult and Bruce Springsteen. I like all types of sciences and math. I hope to go to Stanford, Berkeley, or UCLA. If they start a youth forum/group, I would create my own account. :-)

Nice to meet you, MiniAmandaRuth.

by one measly year! I'm 21 and I was too young to vote in 2000 goddamnit and not political enough to vote in 2002! Oh well I voted for Kerry and he won my state - PA, so there!

oh well, enjoy your free time and glorious lack of responsibility while you have it. But if any old people tell you that "these are the best years of your life" then ask them why there aren't more suicides!

and younger. We need you, your energy and activism and ideas. We welcome any contributions that you can make, since we, obviously, need them. You are the future of this movement, so please stay with this and keep active. I only became political after being scared witless on 9/11. I wish so much that I'd started earlier. You give me hope for all of us.:-)

I currently reside in Southern California, home of the "holy shit" conservatives. I'm in marching and concert band and play the tenor saxophone. I'm a big fan of John Mellencamp and country music (so shoot me). My favorite subject is probably English, even though I am procrastinating doing a speech for it right now. In my "spare" time, of which I'll have none until marching band season is over in a week, I write, read, draw, play music, sing (hehehe), and occasionally run. I want to go to college in Minnesota and major in political science or journalism, or maybe go on to law school.
