Moral values like ordaining marriage to be between a man and a woman only and the eleimination of reproductive freedom are worth much more to some than, say, avoiding unneecessary preemptive war, feeding the hungry and caring for the sick, being good stewards of the planet - that kind of thing,

It's all relative.
