Lake Itasca is where the Mississippi River starts it's flow south. About 35 miles north of Park Rapids, MN...4 hours north of Minneapolis.

5. I used to live in Itasca, IL
and I'm in McHenry county now. Yes, it is very cold today, and it's been raining all day too. Big BRRRRRRR.

My dad's family is from around the Itasca State Park area-- a little town called Shevlin, which is halfway between Bemidji and Bagley.

Nice piece of country, still fairly quiet and pristine. :)

but both parents are; my mother grew up about 17 miles north of Park Rapids (5 from Emmaville, 10 from Lake George, if those two places ring any bells)...You?
