Terrence McKenna - Who Else Loved His stuff?
Psychobotanist, in that a botanist who studies plants pertaining to their effects on human psychology. Wrote "True Hallucinations" and other books. Liked to use himself as a guinea pig for the various hallucinogens.

1. I made a half-hour psychedelic piece of music with him talking about
mushrooms and anthropology - brilliant stuff!

2. I loved "Food of the Gods"
Trying to prove the hypothesis that man mentally evolved because of the use of psychedelic plants. Worked for me!!!

Also, there's a GREAT video/CD of him live doing spoken work over music by Spacetime Continuum that is DEFINITELY worth seeking out...

Another dead hero :(

3. I heard him speak several times on the Art Bell show
He is definitely an interesting person, and I have a special interest in the area that he studies. Or I guess I should say 'experiments.'

6. He Was One of a Kind
He would delve into things that he knew absolutely nothing about and learn enough in a short period of time to come up the most breathtakingly bizarre theories. The historical time wave equation was the biggest, but far from the only one. Very entertaining and impressive in a morbid sort of way.

But his research on the ancient use of hallucinogenices is very useful, along with his findings on societies in North Africa that have gone from savannah to desert over the last 10,000 years.
