Should I get a lobotomy?

I'm miserable! And everyone around me at work is always happy and smiling, oblivious to the pain and suffering and injustice in the world. They are just happy that we are over in Iraq killing the Iraqi civilians who attacked us on 9/11.

I think perhaps if I stopped reading the newspaper and keeping myself informed I might be a happier person and live a longer, less productive life. But my thirst for knowledge is so strong that a lobotomy might be the only way I can stay away from reliable information and start listening to Sean Hannity, instead.

What should I do? I don't want to die of an ulcer or have a stroke. I'm only in my thirties!

I know I could bear it easily if there were friends and people around me that felt similarly, but it seems that nobody else cares.

I feel totally alone. Outside of this site, most others have rejected any discussion of my concerns and basically told me to get over it. I've tried, I've tried hard, but the things that they want to focus upon just seem so shallow and irrelevant.

I don't think that I am capable of lapsing back into apathy and ignorance. Sometimes I wish I could. I would be a much happier person.
