Group Forum Suggestion for John Kerry Supporters

I'm proposing a group forum for John Kerry supporters - for those who still support him whether or not he ends up winning the Presidency in 2004.

So far I've seen two other members who would like this. I believe I now need 10 members with gold stars to reply to this thread and express interest. I think it is then we have to get together and come up with a mission statement.

I hope I'm doing this right, I am kind of a noob.

WE HAVE 10! Time to come up with a mission statement. Anyone willing to help? I can start one and someone else can look it over and add to it....

Now it just has to say WHY we want it, how it would be effective, etc?

i read the rules to request again - it said to post the mission statement IN this thread. For all those who replied to participate, this is the mission statement (PM me or add on if you think it should be different)

The mission of the John F. Kerry Supporters group is for members to discuss what attracts them to John Kerry: the highlights and history of his career and life, any impact he's had on our country, his accomplishments, his service and stance regarding the Vietnam war, and the strong emotional attachment that a lot of people seem to have developed toward him, especially since the 2004 Presidential Election.

**Also, for the time between now and January 20th, expressions of hope that he will be inaugurated on January 20th, 2005 as well as support for those who are dealing with any kind of depression or concern over the current results of the 2004 election.

about hopes he could get in, because it will just be too sad reading it if results don't change in his favor.

i wasn't too big on this because i would rather post kerry stuff in the regular forums so everyone can see. but if it's going to be formed i will check it out.

if it wasn't such hard work on admins, it might only take a few seconds.

OR - for now it could be for Kerry 'emotional' support, and then later if necessary, just general Kerry support, whether Senator or President.

no reference to office or future office. one thing i want to avoid is getting too hung up on it being about a future campaign because we don't know what he will do.

by just making it about "john kerry supporters" that way it leaves it open to being about anything concerning him. we don't limit ourselves in that way.

I would like the name of the forum to read John F. Kerry Supporters..

If you think it is better for the mission statement to omit official reference to the possibility of him winning this election, that is fine. But i'm sure it will still be ok for any participants to make posts in reference to it

I would still like one aspect of the forum to be a kind of 'group support' for those who are depressed or concerned with the current or future outcome of the election.

Am i making sense? Might sound confusing...

i was just referring to the mission statement in talking about leaving out too much reference to kerry's political future. but the actual posts and threads can be about anything concerning kerry.

i guess it was just a personal thing but i just didn't want a disappointed or sad feeling reading the mission statement mention something about Kerry that turns out not to happen and then just leaves me feeling sad again.

but on actual posts i expect people will discuss anything including myself.

it does not have a restriction on who can suggest the group... so I think we're on the right road...

Your mission statement is excellent.

it leaves the group discussion open for anything concerning kerry so we can keep it up no matter what he does.

it makes it seem like more of a personal connection referring to him as just "john kerry". the other one sounds too informal and disconnected.

we still have time on our side. I know nothing about drafting a mission statement, even though I'm hardly a noob, but just point me in the right direction. I think that John is the veteran DUer among us.:evilgrin:
