Poll question: "Oh yes we need a little Christmas, Right this very minute.." Faves?
There's a local station that's been playing holiday music 24/7 for weeks now.

I originally was going to do a poll on most annoying Christmas song (my vote: "We Wish You a Merry Christmas We Wish You a Merry Christmas We wish you a ..." - Allllrrrriiiigghhhhttt already!!!!!), but I decided to try to be positive this time around.

So, what's your fave, if you have one, and feel free to post if not.

You better watch out.....

2. Not fond of Christmas music
I think it was after my mom died that the holiday has not been the same. And having to spend it with some evil in laws doesn't assuage the pain. So listening to music just doesn't do it for me. So Snoopy's theme doesn't sound holiday-ish, in fact I listen to it all year long...

3. I kinda like that song about grandma getting hit by a reindeer
but if I hear it more than once in a 12 month people, I go nuts. I pretty much hate all Christmas music. I blame it on my mom playing the same 4 Christmas CD's over and over again for 5 years in a row. Argh, i'm getting agitated just reminiscing. Bah humbug!

5. O Holy Night, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and some happy one.
I hated O Holy Night as a kid, but I'm finding that to be my favorite as I get older. Very nice melody, very magical, makes me remember why *I* celebrate Christmas to begin with.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is melancholy tinged...The Christmas Song is slow... my kid is going to want to strangle me with these!

Um...also like uh... Rudolph. Yeah. Rudolph.

16. Ack! I forgot Lennon's "Happy Christmas" (war is over, if you want it...
..war is over now)

So this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
Ans so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year

Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

And so this is Christmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so happy Christmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
And what have we done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
Ans so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
War is over over
If you want it
War is over
Now...

18. I have no favorite Christmas song
No one who works in retail has a favorite Christmas song. (One of our millwork guys has been in retail for 20 years and has not celebrated Christmas in 18. And he's a very good Christian!)

Every year the store has a Christmas party, every year we have people bring in CDs to play on the stereo, and every year the notice goes up: Do NOT bring Christmas music to the Christmas party. Our music vendor will, on the day after Thanksgiving, take the tape they've been playing all year out of the stereo, insert the Christmas tape, and play that 24 hours a fucking day until one minute after midnight on the day after Christmas. By the time the Christmas party hits, we've heard enough Christmas music to last us. So we play other things--extremely loud heavy metal is a favorite.

Note to saloonkeepers: if you were to play no Christmas music during the Christmas season, nor decorate your establishment in holiday finery, it would be JAMMED with retail people who need a retreat from Christmas.
