RON ARTEST SHOULD GO F*** HIMSELF
He laid on the scorer's table, and then when a fan threw a bottle at him, he didn't let security personnel go after the fan who threw the bottle at him. Instead, he charged into the stands, and look where things went.

2. Give me a fucking break.
Those idiot fans are responsible for this. They did EVERYTHING. Throwing shit, starting fights, they even were throwing shit- TONS of them- while the Pacers were leaving.

FUCK those fans.

5. That Guy Who Sqaured Up Against Artest Was Out Of His Mind...
He was smaller, fatter, and older, and less in shape than Artest...

He must have had too much liquid courage...

10. Thinking the exact same thing.
Lots of violence going on out there, in many different arenas. I wonder when this pimple's going to pop...

7. Excuse me?
With the ewxception of the guy who threw the ber bottle, they acted out of self-defense.

Name all the other active NBA players who would have done what he did.

9. Oh, yeah, the thirty people throwing beer and clothes and other shit
as the Pacers were LEAVING were acting out of self-defense- not trying to provoke more shit, right?

And the two guys who came out onto the court while Artest was trying to calm down, and tried to pick a fight with him? Those guys acted out of self-defense, too?

The big guy who was behind Jones, twice the guy's size, hitting him in the back of the head, that was self-defense?

11. Or how about the guy in the stands that threw a bottle and hit
the ref in the head with hit? Self-defense?

Or maybe the guy that threw the chair from thirty feet away....

12. I don't know that they did everything,
there is a lot of blame to go around in this situation. Starting with there not being enough security. They also didn't appear to have any crowd control training whatsoever. Why were the fans aloud out of their seats to gather around the floor? And the longer that the mob mentality was aloud to fest, the worse it got.

Secondly, the fans -- enough said.

Thirdly, while nobody should have gone into stands, and the players know this (there are rules against it), the players get amped up during a game. Who would want to watch it if they didn't? But obviously there needs to be some anger management training for the players.

Lastly, I think that the sale of alcohol during large scale events needs to be addressed. It's really easy for me to say, because I don't drink :P , but it is becoming a liability to public safety.

They started it, they continued it.

25. Right.
When I said "enough said", I meant that the footage spoke for itself. There is no excuse for adults to act that way, and yet, there seems to be an increasing tendency for people to act out in malicious and violent ways at sporting events. That includes little league events, soccer matches, college, and professional games. No good can come of it, but because it's happening, precautions need to be taken to protect everyone involved.

Yeah - maybe it was pre-emptive! Artest had information that the rest of us didn't have, because sometimes we'll know things, and sometimes we won't.

14. Everyone should get frowned at, and then forget this.
I don't know how you would feel if hundreds of people were calling you names and throwing things at you after you tried your best to do your job. But I'd be pretty pissed, and if the wrong thing came sailing over, I might feel led to go and pop that untalented asshole who feels he's a big man because he's throwing things at me.

Would I do it? Probably not. But security should have done a better job of keeping EVERYONE in line.

IMO this is no different than a bar fight. No harm, no foul. If no one is seriously injured, everyone should move on.

15. Fuckin' overpaid prima donna NBA "stars" make enough cash, they
should let fans throw crap at them anytime they want. If I was making that much money playing a game, I couldn't care less if someone wanted to throw a beer at me. I'd be laughing all the way to the bank.

16. EVERYBODY was wrong but the bottom line is that you don't go
the bottom line is that you don't go into the stands after fans. part of being a professional is having your emotions under control. if you cannot control your emotions, then you cannot play.

of all of the people who were out of control, artest was the most out of control. and all of this "be a man" and "stand up for yourself" crap. a real man can take it and then dish it out the right way. he and wallace were both childish and that lead to a lot of childishness.

can we do something important now like link this to the animosity that the republicans have used to win their way the past two elections? i think so.

19. Ron Artest is the George W. Bush of the NBA
A stupid faux tough guy who causes everything to go wrong that he touches.

He shouldn't have run into the stands. You just don't do that, no matter what the fans have done to you. Walk away.

HE started the whole mess. Professional athletes have to be held to a higher standard.

Artest has a history of insane behavior. Any other player, short of Rodman, would have walked away.

Its his fault.

24. did you see the guy he fought?
he was really small. The guy who actually threw the cup - the guy in the jersey with the white hat, was a little bigger. I think Artest got his fans mixed up.

But if you notice, Artest didn't try to fight back against Ben Wallace. But he'll go after a guy who might as well be a 12 year old compared to him.

28. You of course
are perfect and holy in every way and would never EVER respond to being provoked like that, especially when your emotions are running high.

No, you are a perfect human being, and angels sing your praises.

By the way, where was security? See, funny thing is, there WEREN'T ANY AROUND THE SCORER'S TABLE.

But no, blame the black guy. After all, those good white people in the audience have the right to throw shit on players for no reason.

31. you cannot place the blame on the shoulders of one man
as easy as that is, EVERYONE, ben wallace, ron artest, the fans, and other pacers players share the blame. artest shouldn't have fouled wallace, wallace shouldn't have reacted the way he did, those fans shouldn't have done a single thing they did, artest shouldn't have charged. blaming one person makes you a jackass.

33. fans need to take responsibility
I'm sick of fans acting like assholes at games and ruining it for everyone else. So of course, they'll blame the athlete when the fans are at fault.
