I got an issue

Anybody who likes porn should be concerned about,
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=2726764#2727849

Why are there two people defending the legit porn industry when I have ALREADY said legit porn is NOT the problem?

What makes you so defensive?

Im NOT talking about legit porn here.

I'm talking about the illigetimate porn that makes legit porn look bad by proxy and give the reactionary anti porn groups ammunition to remove all porn .understand?
It's a little more complicated than porn is bad or porn is good arguments peopole fall into.
I HOPE someone is able to read this reply ,the thread ain't buried and we can really discuss this issue like mature people.

I feel if the legit porn industry fails to really police itself and make sure NONE of it's porn comes from illigetamate sources it might actually protect the legit porn industry from reactionaries who think all porn is bad, for a million reasons ,stupid and not so stupid, human trafficking is an argument that acually has some weight among their more idiotic foaming defenses and attacks on porn.

Dems talk about how do we redefine values to wrestle control back from the right wing? To me discussing issues like this without being so reactionary urselves IS redefining values and taking morality OUT of the wingnuts black and white realm, asnd reasoning together so that we clearly understand where we stand and why. That is wisdom, where truie morality in a person is found.
Jumping to defend the legit industry when I am not talking about them is really a strange kind of selective blindness I think. Maybe this is why some people *appear* immoral to others who are hypocrites.

What do you think about the ILLEGITAMATE porn and the way it is mixed up and confused with legit porn? Don't you think itr endangers things, like the porn industry itself, free speech among them?
What do you think about cocercion? What do you think about exploitation?
What do you think about manipulation of vunerable people for profit or sex?
Do you think poor desperate people should have to sell thier bodies to eat?
Should people get away with cocercinbg others to submit to sex online?
Do you think this is wrong?
Do you think porn should be accountable as to where and how it gets it's pictures?
Are you willing to risk the huge amount of porn available becoming a bit less huge to put the ILLEGITIMATE pornographers out of business?
How selfish and selectively ignorant are you?

I hope someone reads this and doesen't kneejerk to defend legit porn again and sidestep the real issue I wanted to discuss here..because legit consenting porn is NOT what I see as a problem..How many times to I gotta say legit porn is OK before we can get into deeper issues,of abuse, cocercion and crime among illegitamate porn because these ARE important questions to ask I think.
I think it's kinda sick when these issues are so quickly ignored and buried.
People complain about the ho hum short acting reaction the public had to Abu Gharib, well the ho hum is happening here too.
I hope more people would be aware enough to see it in themselves.
Anyone want to develop some character and discuss how the porn industry could save itself from right wing censors for real?

1. How do you tell the difference?
How can you tell if there's a gun offscreen, and how can you tell if someone has passed their eighteenth birthday?

I'm against any and all "culture" issues in politics and all law enforcement activities, so I'm the wrong person to ask, though.

2. Good questions
How can you tell if there's a gun offscreen, and how can you tell if someone has passed their eighteenth birthday?

And good honesty

I'm against any and all "culture" issues in politics and all law enforcement activities, so I'm the wrong person to ask, though.

I am not calling it a culture issue because really porn is an INDUSTRY.
An industry that supplies a product.
It has cultural effects. But in fact it is a business like any other corporation.

Some corporations don't put poison on produce, they police themselves and submit to regulations and inspections to make sure they are legit.
Some industries try to make sure thier products are designed well enough not to kill people so they police themselves and submit to regulations inspections to make sure they are legit.

The general porn industry does none of this self regulation, self policing or submittingh to inspections,as far as I know

Sure there can be corruption in the process of keeping companies legit.. look at the Enron scandal and how they got away with it, the energy regulations were gutted for enron's scam, the company was not held accountable to anyone, thier records were shredded before inspection of wrongdoing.

Imagine the equivalent of an Enron in the porn industry.
I'm not talking money scams so nuch here,I'm talking the human cost.
Imagine the pain in the performers/models emotional lives after being trapped, manipulated, abused and used by people with no respect for human beings..Trauma takes alot of time and help to be able to recover from it.It's painful for non traumatized people to believe and painful for traumatized people to even hear.It cripples your capacity for love, happiness and finding meaning in your life.It destroys trust.
In America the cases of rape child rape and abuse ,as in severe sadistic beatings of adults and kids is astronomical.1 in 4 girls are raped in America by age 18! 1 in 6 boys.
I do not know how long this kind of abuse has gone on in various times public denial and hypocraisy, along with 'the family values' fantasies made the issue of abuse or rape a family secret kept in the home and not spoken of in public and this kept abusers happy.

Those are damn scary statistics if you really think of it. So how much of that abuse now is due to illegitamate porn happining in an UNREGLATED industry?
All of the people affected by this are in various stages of emotional turmoil. Some may have stockholm syndrome.

How to stop the abuses?

One exception to this sad situation may be the cathouses (legal prostitution)in Nevada, where the women working there are tested for STDs and there are bouncers ready to make sure the workers are not abused by the Johns..I do know the women working there in interveiws some of the women discribed "going away" or trancing out during sex with the customers.
In case you were not aware this is dissociation. One way a person copes with being abused in a situation that is unsafe to thier mind and or body.
I don't think these sex workers get axcess to a therapist to talk to as part of the cathouse health plan.If they did the doctor if he was legit may notice trauma symptoms in the workers. The industry can't have that problem let out in the public they'd lose money.

And FYI I was manipulated by a fundamentalist christian pedophile as a kid,he took pictures of me,to sell and this creep is still roaming free. This happened in the USA..This is not a "recovered memory". My home was so dysfunctional nothing was done about it.And I was on my own. And so I am left with a life of depersssion,a frustration with humanity's igniorance and a loss of hope that people will ever stop abusing each other as long as there is money or pleasure in this kind of exploitation and sadism when it's seen as 'normal'..

How can a porn industry keep the performers models safe and respect thier consent?

3. Seems to be a wide range of sexualities
If I were to crusade against sexual abuse, I would start with the prison system, where the government is often the abuser and has the ability to stop what happens.

I don't think everyone who works as a sex worker is "traumatized" by every sex act. I don't think any of them avoid EVER being traumatized, but most forms of work in a capitalist society are brutal in some way.

Are porn production companies responsible for what has happened in their performers' past that made them amenable to this job? No, obviously not, no more than alcohol companies are liable for the abuse that makes many self-medicate. All they can do is police themselves, and to some degree make sure their performers aren't under some kind of duress outside of work (being "pimped"). From my understanding (I've known a few people who work/worked in porn) anyone who does real violence or abuses children is shunned by the mainstream of the industry. The response to these behaviors, if known, is no different--probably more strident, in fact--than the reaction would be in any industry.

However, it's hard for the consumer to tell what's what in an industry based 99.999999% on fakery. People do want product that LOOKS like rape or child abuse, and it's a culture issue whether the govt. should go after this product even if no laws are broken in the production. For me, as a social issue, it's a tossup; for every perv who gets ideas from porn there are probably ten more who find porn, get off, and don't hurt anyone.
