I Don't Eat Dark Meat
I'm talking about on turkey and chicken (so stop thinking that!)

That's why we only buy a turkey breast for Thanksgiving dinner. It's easier to cook and it makes just as nice a presentation platter too.

By the time Winter Solstice comes around we're tired of all the turkey, so we get a spiral-sliced honey-baked ham... Mmmm! MMMM!

What do you have with your traditional holiday meals?

22. I feel the same way.
I can't bring myself to eat pig anymore. As much as I love pork tenderloin and bacon...like you say, how can you eat something as intelligent as a 3 year-old child?

But then again, I also can't make myself eat any animals that are cute (duckies, lambs, bunnies) so I might not be the right one to ask.

2. We do turkey, this year we're doing two
one outside on the grill and the other in the oven because I like stuffing cooked in the bird. On Christmas it's generally ham and or prime rib. News Years is just another day and we're so sick of holiday food that it's just called everyman for himself day.

I'm cooking this year, hopefully with some help from the kids. Yum!

7. Whole bird, again
After thinking about going out for dinner this year, I decided that my son's first trip home from college required a traditional Thanksgiving dinnner. So it'll be the whole nine. And a Christmas ham, although I usually just buy the cheapest I can find! We have Chinese for Christmas Eve though, don't know when we started that, but that's what we do.

8. We are going to friends this year, she's making the turkey
and I'm bringing a spiral cut ham. I always make regular mashed potatoes but i also make mashed sweet potatoes as well. Another thing i make every year now is oven roasted asparagus with feta cheese and bacon, yummy and mmmmbacon.

13. OK, glad to pass it along
OK get as much asparagus as you need but make sure it's thin or medium stemmed. snap of the ends as always and then mix it with good extra virgin olive oil. After it's coated put it on a sheet pan, meanwhile you have your oven at 400f. Sprinkle liberally with kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper. roast for anywhere between 10 to 15 minutes or until fork tender but not mushy. Let it cool for 5 minutes and sprinkle with bacon and feta cheese. Some lemon is always nice as well but sometimes i forget that part.

Ive done other veggies that way as well, baby endive quartered and roasted like that is so good. Enjoy!

15. you bigot! What's wrong with dark meat?
j/k

we usually have ham or some sort of meat at Christmas. Thanksgiving is always turkey, but we've been known to have turkey pizza before. Dominos has it and a special thanksgiving box too.

eh, I'd like to have a big old suckling pig with an apple in its mouth but I doubt my family would go for it. They'll probably just tell me to put an apple in MY mouth!

17. We're doing a wild game Thanksgiving this year.
We're making roast goose, venison roast and steaks, and rabbit. We will have ham for the wee ones and timid adults.

:)
