Yeah, it's always the first thing I think when I see anybody from Flock of Seagulls. A friend of mine from high school and I had a little Middle Eastern-style dance we used to do to that song ... a la 'Iran, Iran so far away.' Yeah, it was kind of insensitive of us, I suppose. We were sixteen years old -- it's a not-uncommon disease.

11. It wasn't especially far away then, either.
The hostages had only recently been retrieved -- that's why I say it was insensitive. It would have been around '82, so only a couple of years after Iranians had held American hostages for well over a year, and what even we, back then, believed to be shenanigans pulled by friends of Ronald Reagan's that kept them in Iran until the election was over, so it would make for a more impressive defeat of Jimmy Carter.

Insensitive for many reasons, but as I said -- we were teenagers.
