This reply only refers to itself and not to the thread that it is contained within. Here we look back on the previous statement and then consider any possible continuation of the idea.

Now, we find that this paragraph is not only referring to itself, but mentioning its predecessor in passing. This sentence does nothing but relate its own existence and then ends in a period without exclaiming its desire to refer to anything else.

This phrase insists that it is not a real phrase and it refuses to refer to the first two paragraphs, in a rather self-serving, smug way. The last sentence was an attempt to divert you from this reference, which has obviously failed.

The current trend is to go back to the most non-referential sentence and continue forward without re-reading this reference.
