Episode 19: Quicksand
Has Hollywood gotten it right all this time? Can you really murder someone by dropping an electrical appliance into a bathtub? In a truly electrifying experiment, the guys find out what actually happens when hair dryer and water collide. Then follow the MythBuilders as they pursue the case of the exploding tattoo in the MRI. How, if at all, will the traces of metal found in the ink of Scottie's tattoos react with the MRI's rays? And Tarzan used it successfully against his enemies, but will killer quicksand take down the MythBusters?
premiere: Oct. 20, 2004

Do you think he was a Mythbusters fan?

He would have emerged from the hut with his face covered with soot and his hair sticking straight up. Shaken, but otherwise OK.

18. I knew someone who died by accident that way
An elderly neighbor lady when I was a little kid. But now they make radios that are safe for the shower, and remote speakers too. Why would anyone keep a plugged-in radio next to their tub?

37. Bogus Bob Denver/radio-in-tub report has made the rounds for years...
http://www.tvacres.com/death_misc_bogus.htm
And finally, Bob Denver who played beatnik Maynard G. Krebs on THE MANY LOVES OF DOBIE GILLIS/CBS/1959-63 and first mate Gilligan on GILLIGAN'S ISLAND/CBS/1964-67 allegedly had died from an electrical shock after a radio had fallen into his bathtub in the early 1960s. Bob Denver never experienced such a situation and the only "charge" he is guilty of is being charged for possession of marijuana in June of 1998. At last report, Denver was seen living in Princeton, West Virginia with a great big grin on his face. (TV Guide 7/25/1998 p. 10-16).
