On the "jam band" thread, someone was talking about the Allman Brothers, and mis-spelled it "Almond". So, of course, I replied, "Soft Cell is genius! I love Marc Almond!" And nothing! Come on people, that shit's funny! What the hell's the matter with you??!?

I think you misunderstood the Almond reference

The post was: "I've always been a little bit biased toward the Almond clan" and the text was: "Many years ago I played in a bottle club in Jacksonville Florida and Duane and Dicky Betts played in the early part.
I talked to them several times(this was before they were stars) and I remember asking them who they listened to. They said "Oh..Charlie Parker, Jim Hall, Stan Getz, Urbie Green"

Needless to say ...my opinion of them went up several steps!"

Now, clearly, he is talking about the Allman brothers. "Duane" is Duane Allman. But he spelled it "Almond". So I said I loved Soft Cell--Marc Almond is the singer for Soft Cell.

Oh, for god's sake. I can't believe I'm explaining this.

1) "Many years ago"

2) a bottle club in Jacksonville Florida - The ABB in a club? I think this must have happened before they made it big

On the "NZ Dolphins Save Swimmers From Shark", I did note that helping others was their porpoise in life, which seemed to effectively sink the thread. But, then, that wasn't brilliantly funny - more like painfully lame. :shrug:
