A warning about exploding KYOCERA cell phones (serious).
Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 06:21 PM by Gryffindor_Bookworm
It's starting to make the news more (see this link): http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6569187.

It's not a joke; it's a real danger. I don't know about other companies, but Kyocera has had some problems with this -- but it can be fixed. If you have a Kyocera phone, PLEASE contact them about the battery recall. I got my letter a couple of weeks ago, called immediately, and they overnighted me a new battery. Their story is that one of their sub-contractors used "counterfeit" batteries. Who knows whether or not it's true? But they sent me a new battery, and my cell phone is not going to explode, and that's what's important.

If you didn't buy your phone from a company like Verizon that shares their information with Kyocera, you might not know that you have a bad battery and you might be in danger. Contact them, please?

2. This isn't too surprising
As cell phones are moving toward being palm pilots or laptops, the power drain is increasing. This means that batteries need to be bigger and that they run hotter. At the same time, however, the companies that make the components are using cheaper and cheaper products. This is a bad combination.

4. I don't know what LG means.
I just know that they're recalling the batteries on a bunch of KYOCERA model phones.

6. LG is a brand of cellphone.
I guess I don't have to worry if it's only Kyocera.
