Are there really cloaked DUers in freeperville?

I've always wondered this. Don't want to go there and get slime in my computer to find out, but I've always wondered how many DUers or other liberals are at freeperville, but gliding just under the radar?

Because I have, in the past, read things there, but have never registered as a user and would not. I just get a sick feeling READING the stuff alone.

It's funny when you post stuff HERE that flushes out the freepers, too (general "you" not necessarily YOU). I've done it a few times, without meaning to.

I actually know someone who is VERY deep into the republican PARTY (for real) and passes themselves off as a republican, but votes for the Dems every time. They have gotten themselves to be chair of the repub party for their COUNTY, no less. I get emails from time to time about his progress. It takes a certain fortitude to be able to go that deep undercover and not vomit at the types of things he has to say and "support." The thing is, he is a crappy party chair, but quite popular personally, so they are loath to get rid of him, but he has basically reduced the county repub party in his county to a mess that experiences no success. He "forgets" to do things, shuts down good ideas, messes up lines of communication, etc.

Mission accomplished, I would say. He acknowledges it is evil, but decided to do it after a Dem in his county was found out to be a republican posing as a Dem and rising up in the party structure just to screw things up. He was relatively anonymous back then, so he just dove right into his county repub party.

for my University's College Republicans.

I was going to go there with a Bush/Cheney button on and try and build some clout amongst them and then fuck up the system from the inside. :D But alas, I didn't have the heart to even pretend I was a young republican. :puke:

Yeah, for some reason "we" have had lots of infiltrators in "our" political and activist movements. Very effective. Not sure if we should fight that "fire with fire" type of battle or not.

I am a regular... It is a horrible experience that I don't recommend. Most of them are racist thugs, gay bashers, poor haters... I don't think there is a good Christian on that site.

I know that site and I know they have some very rabid righties there. It's amazing to me that that site is also known for not banning people there unless it's a vicious attack or scam. Strange people.

I have been part of a little mailing list for many years and I have watched once-reasonable people, whom I once considered friends, deteriorate into frothing, drooling, intractable FreePeeZ. Scolds. People who attempt to beat you bloody with their personal vision of "morality", which reads like delusion and sociopathy.

I pretty much post what's on my mind on DU, and that's the result of being pretty much in alignment with DU's "core principles."

However, every time I thought about posting on FreeRepublic, it felt too much like "espionage."

Not that espionage wouldn't be fun...I just couldn't, in all seriousness, make a "pro-Bush" post. The topics on FreeRepublic that don;t require some form of "agreement" are very, very few.

just to see if I'd get a response. However, some things in Freeperville make me so sick, I usually don't go there.

I hated having to be so stealthy. Besides, arguing with a freeper is like playing chess with first graders - you'll win but it's an empty victory. (no disrespect intended toward first graders).

I still read it once in a while just to feel superior. I still remember the first time...some freep said the two people he hated the most were Jimmy Carter and Bill Moyers. Good God.
