How many Subway restaurants are in your city???
Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 09:23 PM by SmileyBoy
Lately, I've read that Subway will soon surpass McDonald's as most proliferated chain business on Planet Earth. It's crazy to think about it, but there will soon be a fast-food joint that will surpass McDonald's. There's currently about 22,300 Subways in the world according to their website, and they're adding several every day.

So, how many Subways are in YOUR city??

To find out, go to this website,

http://www.subway.com/Applications/locator/index.aspx

enter your city, and count the stores in the list.

BTW, there's 14 of them in my city's area (urban area of 157,000). That's one Subway for every 11,200 people.

Odd.

I really like subway because it has a healthy alternative that is actually healthy, not like Mcdonalds salads which have more calories then their burgers...

15. Quiznos...mmm, mmm, mmm....
They're actually pretty good. And they've got business opportunities in your neighborhood - according to the commercial. Which means of course, they're risking falling into the same pit Subway, Wendy's, Arby's, Rice King and other "used to be decent" fast food places have fallen

Subway has contracts with the federal government and many of the state governments, providing alternative cafeteria services. That's how their site numbers exploded and can afford to go into the little markets and mass-produce their sandwiches - even the "experimental" sandwiches like the carne asada abomination.

Subway has gone seriously downhill over the past few years, and a lot of it has been due to all the expansion and experimentation.
My favorites are/have been Quiznos (current) or the late lamented Gilly's Submarine Sandwich up in the Seattle University district and Mac's Hoagie Hut in Port Hueneme.

16. Toronto has about 120.
and there are 2 within a easy walk from my apartment.

I believe I read in Eric Schlosser's Fast Food Nation that Subway's philosphy is to sell as many franchise licenses as possible, even if it entails having locations so close that they damage one another's business. Bastards.

17. I fucking hate this phrase:
"Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki" - there is something very sick about this phrase, especially when Jared says it

do you think they have subliminal messages whenever they use that phrase in their commercials, it really freaks me out (actually, most people who talk about food in commercials do)

Until I can walk a half block to get to my Subway, no matter where I live, it ain't enough.

Speaking of Subway, I'm hungry. When does it open?
