prank phone calls... gone wrong

supposed to go:

Your black cat is in my yard

response - I don't have a black cat...

prank response - that's funny, I don't have a yard...

how it went:

Your black cat is in my yard

response - all of our cats are inside...

our prank response... er, er, er...

----
Though the prank itself was pretty innocous/innocent - getting caught off guard cut short the entertainment of prank phone calling...

1. Many years ago...

believe it or not, I actually got someone with the old "Prince Albert In A Can" prank call. We tried it on several people that night, but only one guy (clerk at Safeway) fell for it.

3. Way back in high school

Some of us were hanging around someone's basement, bored as usual, so we made some prank phone calls. The one that goes,

"Hi, this is the electric company. Do you have a refrigerator?"

"Yes."

"Is it running?"

"Yes."

"Well, it's running down the street! HAHAHAHAHA!"

Great fun, until the dimwitted one of the group wanted to try. What we heard was:

"Hello, this is the electric company. Do you have a fridge?" <pause> "It's running down the street!"

Some guy is prolly still trying to figure out what the hell that was.
