It is snowing HUGE snowflakes!
I came home from rehearsal an hour ago and thought that for the first time it felt like winter and now the biggest, wettest snowflakes are coming down and blowing around and it is beautiful! I always love the first snowfall.

4. Yes, big, swirly,
fat snowflakes. The ones that make you feel dizzy when you look up into them.

I am in Lawrence all the time it seems. I get a lot of gigs there, mostly in the summer months. I adore Lawrence. Snows a commin!

It's slushy but here. I just got back from taking the dogs out. I, of course, had to wait until after my Jayhawk game.

about 1/2 inch so far. Did the Jayhawks win? I never watch.

40. We've got about 6"
and the Jayhawks won decisively over St. Joseph.

Did you get long rolling thunder during the storm? There were several window rattlers here last night during the snow. It doesn't happen often and it was weird.

41. They say we got about
5 inches, it looks like less here at my house but my farm was pretty drifted and deep, maybe 5 there. We did not get thunder that I heard, that is always cool when that happens. Did you get pink lightning?

42. I didn't look
The thunder actually woke me up. Like I said, we got some long rumbling window rattlers but I was snug under the blankets by then. Thankfully it was the huge fluffy stuff and seems to have pretty much melted away as the day went on.

The Shih Tzu isn't particularly fond of snow especially when it is the as deep as he is tall. This morning I had to make ruts in the snow so he could walk. This evening it was much more pleasant of a walk for him (me and the other dog).

We may get hit again with snow Friday night/Saturday morning.

35. Ice storms in KC
I've lived all over the US, but I never saw ice storms like I did when I lived in Kansas City.

We lived at 54th and Main, and I remember driving down Main Street under all the ice-coated trees was really pretty. I miss that weather.

But, be careful.........

Sticking to grass but not pavement, which is O-Kay!

Topeka must be getting the snow we had yesterday. (Or was it the day before?)

11. It's wonderful, isn't it?
I have memories like that. In high school, coming out of a basketball game, going down the long driveway to the road which was lit by faux gas lamps - and the snow, backlit -so beautiful. Snow has a kind of redemptive quality...clean slate or something.

14. Yes, at least at this time.
It won't be fun to drive in then it gets all dirty and slick and slushy and ugly but yes, right now it is redemptive and I do feel somehow clean. Do you get snow in the part of CA you are in? I had to drive through a terrible, scary snow in the mountains there once.

37. No...no snow.
I live across the street from the ocean so we don't get the right conditions. Fog is my snow now. It too has it's negative side - driving to work can be scary - but it has some of the cleansing and mysterious aspects of snow too. Still, unknown, soft.

The mountains here can be very treacherous - even just in rain - I know it's time for me to go to sleep because I'm now thinking of the two sides of life and nature - the beauty and the danger.

C ya later! Stay warm.

38. Goodnight.
I will stay warm. You are very lucky to live by the ocean. The ocean is my most favorite place to be. The fog can be very nasty. It used to scare my youngest, when he would see just the two lights of an oncoming car he used to scream, "Spookies!" Think of spookies and be careful.

17. Yes you will.
I don't know about the report except for here, I was in rehearsal all evening. You will get gobs more than we do, even when we used to get a lot of it. We will have bitter cold and strong winds but not nearly the amount of snow you get. Sometimes, but just sometimes I am jealous.

I'm in TX and here we hardly ever get snow. When we do it's a couple of inches and only lasts a day or two.

Heck, I didn't even need a jacket today.

Enjoy the show!

27. No Passes
I live at around 4,900 feet. Colorado Springs is a little over 6,000 feet. But it's gradual - over the 45 miles of my commute, it's hard to tell I'm changing elevation by 1,100 feet.

39. It Didn't Sound Familiar, So I Did a Google Search
Pat Parelli's facility is in Pagosa Springs, which is in the Four Corners area of Colorado, near Durango.

Pueblo is the home of the Government Printing Office, where you can send for free booklets. ("Send to Catalog, Pueblo, CO 81009" - as they say on the public service announcements.) That's a special ZIP Code set up just for the Government Printing Office. We also have a B-24 museum, a riverwalk, and a convention center.

25. It is so light
when the moon is out and there is snow on the ground. It is the best time to watch the wildlife around here. I can go about 1/2 a block away and count 30 or so deer in the bean field. It is a lovely thing to do. Yes, it is always nice at first but then it gets pretty old.

30. when i was a kid & a boy scout we'd camp in far northern mn....
...
and us kids would sit around the campfire all bundled up after the adults had gone to sleep and we'd hear the timber wolves howling at each other.
when you're 12 or 13 at a campfire and you hear that for a couple of hours it send chills down your spine. i think we all realized we were witnessing something rare and beautiful...

...to my knowledge we never saw them. they were smart enough not to get too close....but from hilltop to hilltop they'd talk and talk...

32. Amazing story, thanks
for sharing that. I got chills just being there for a second in my mind. I love wolves. We hear Coyotes all the time, hardly the same thing but they are here in large packs. They come down and run the fence with my dogs. I watch them as they breed and in the spring have their pups and have even seen them playing with deer.

Great story, thanks.

26. It's still just rain here
in Overland Park. I think it's supposed to snow tomorrow and perhaps Thursday. I don't care. I've got almost everything already, except that I have to pick up a fresh turkey tomorrow. About 10 people are coming over, I've got plenty of wine. Let it snow!

Plus, I drive a Subaru, stick shift, and they're just great in snow.
