What happened to the Lounge?

It used to be a great place, where everyone had fun and we could all take a break from the rigors and the flamewars and the trolls in the political forums. It was also a place where you could go with your problems, and get help and kind words from some of the greatest people on the planet.

What happened, man? When did the lounge jump the shark?

1. I don't think it has.

The Lounge has never been immune from flame wars. It's lost some of the more intimate feel from when DU was a smaller place, but I don't think the atmosphere has changed all that much.

And if the newbies (me, I guess, among others) have smelled up the joint, I apologize.

I definitely see traces of what the Lounge must have been like - very witty, warm people. I have gotten a great deal of comfort from gathering here and talking about nonsense with people whose values I appreciate.

I don't know what you mean. It's still like that to me. Although I have noticed some old timers from a few months back aren't here as much, but then again, it's the holidays and some people are taking a break from DU, politics in general, etc.
