He lifted too many Twinkies. Walked a flight of stairs. Tried lifting Clay Aiken.

1. I cannot make Ruben Studdard jokes.
The odds of him dying before I hit POST MESSAGE are just too high.

5. Only if you take jokes seriously.
That's why they're jokes.

7. So will you do some n*gger jokes next?
Or am I just taking those too seriously too?

18. while I tend to agree
I never see anyone defending alcoholics or junkies when jokes are made about them - which is a better comparison than obesity and ethnicity. OK people don't "choose" to be fat as such but in the exact same way junkies don't "choose" to be junkies either.

3. I don't think it's that funny to pick on fat people
BUT... I had to laugh at what you said.

4. I hope he does something about his weight
he's so young, and he's got a lot of talent. He should learn from Luther.

6. I just read an article about him
He's failing in his efforts to lose weight, and I thought it was sad that his life will probably be cut short. :(

14. Even though he didn't really win American Idol because the vote was rigged
I still hope he's ok. Had to laugh about him lifting Clay. Hell, a 90-year-old woman could do that and not break a sweat!

15. Exhaustion? I had no idea that one could be hospitalized for that?
What do you do? GO to the hospital and say "I'm really tired all the time" "Well sir, you're exhausted, you'll have to stay here for a while"?

22. I only hear about celebrities doing that . . .
like those doing big national tours or doing back-to-back Broadway shows. Stuff like that. Sometimes it a euphemism for depression or drug overdose or when the public's being kept in the dark.

24. I would say "exhaustion" is always a euphemism
for something else, if it requires hospitalization.

20. I'm sorry I just can't get behind picking on Ruben's weight
And I'm normally a heartless bitch that spares no one from the snarkage. This poor guy has struggled with his weight for a long time, and it's gotten so out of hand that his health is at stake. He is a genuinely sweet guy (my sister met him on a flight recently and chatted with him almost the whole time) and I just can't kick him when he's down.
