3. What "stuff"
That's a pretty massive generalization.

I consider the '80s to be one of the best decades of music--great new wave, punk, and rock and roll came out of the '80s.

18. much of popular music from the 80's was upbeat and hopeful
what followed by contrast was suicidal grunge rock and glorified garage bands.

Both halves of that statement are gross generalizations, but by and large I think the reason some people like music from the 80's is because it was FUN and didn't make you want to slash your wrists.

6. Hmmmm...like what?
I think of "Lovers in the Back Seat" by the Scissor Sisters...reminds me of Wang Chung from the To Live and Die In LA soundtrack.

8. The 80s rocked
I love 80s music. In fact, I have several CDs of nothing but the 80s (well, almost nothing) in my Trailblazer.

11. What comes around goes around.
Our generation is now becoming those who are in charge of marketing at different companies thus the resurgence of songs from Ozzy and Led Zepplin to the Bangles in selling things.

Personally, I don't mind some of the techno from the 80's. It was quite good. But I can do without the glam rock and some of the hair bands. I personally want to hear more Iron Maiden/ACDC/Metallica/Megadeth/Anthrax from the 80's.

16. not only with music but with clothes and toys too!
I can't believe the toys I have seen...Strawberry shortcare, carebears, Cabbage Patch Kids...
Then the clothes: stonewash/acidwash jeans, jean jackets, big hoop earrings, the punk look...I'm surprised I haven't seen big hair with tons of hairspray, heavy makeup, and tight-rolled jeans yet!
There are so many things that I was too young then to experience that are once again fashionable...its crazy! Some of the stuff they should have let die though...it was bad then and it is bad now...
One thing I wish they would bring back are FRAGGLES!

13. I like to place the blame
on one individual: Drew Barrymore.
Ever since that talentless hack was in The Wedding Singer, it seems that the 80s revival has gone full steam ahead. The 80s were a dreadful decade - and this whole revival seems to be younger kids and recording 'acts' that don't remember it.

14. what kind of 80s?
there was good 80s "alternative"
then there was 80s pop and overdone bullshit.

either way, its all the hipsters that are lovin it.

imo, the good stuff is the new music that sounds like (but doesn't copy) 80s alternative (interpol, killers, etc)

15. yeah, thats the crap...
when i hit the messageboards for musicians, its all people wanting to be the next interpol, or the shins, or any of these other new 80s rip offs...the 80s was a terrible decade, and should never be relived musically.

20. Kids going back to their "roots"
And Gen-Xers up next on the list for "we're gonna sell you the same crap you used to own," aka nostalgia.

I like a lot of 80s music, but it has its share of insipidness.
