Bee attack after honey truck crash

EMERGENCY workers sent to the scene of a fatal truck collision in Australia found themselves fighting off an attack from swarms of angry bees whose hives had been aboard the crashed vehicle.

The driver was killed when his truck carrying honey, beehives and wax crashed into the back of a semi-trailer late Tuesday near Dubbo in New South Wales, police said.

Police and emergency service workers received multiple bee stings when they arrived at the scene.

Beekeepers wearing protective clothing were called in to remove the beehives and help clean up honey and wax that covered the roadway.
