3. Other: Because
Because someone has to keep the transmitters on the air, so people can watch Oprah playing the generous capitalist, giving away tons of stuff with commercial plug-o-rama. Her "favorite things" show is the worst aspects of Christmas all wrapped up in one greedy mess, but people love the show.

my mom is cooking turkey and we are bringing the rest. The last few years my h and I have done Thanksgiving, since none of my sibs own a house, but my h was sick with that nasty cold for a few weeks, plus we are rearranging stuff in the house, so we convinced my mom to do one more Turkey day.

15. C'mon long weekend......
I can remember back when everything was closed during holidays, if you needed something on Thanksgiving or Christmas day, you were shit outta luck. I wish somebody in the government would require that all businesses close so that everybody could stay home with family.

52. Holiday Business Boycott
This is my personal response to businesses being open on holidays. I boycott them all, so for me, they are effectively closed. I'm trying to get enough people interested in the idea so that businesses open on Holidays actually lose money, and decide for themselves to be closed instead.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to soapbox.

And welcome to DU!

if I were home, Mrs. Squeech would make me clean the kitchen.

But the fact that they pay me to be here is certainly a consideration.

24. I own the company, and can't afford to pay anybody to do the grunt work.
DVD must be finished for delivery by end of day.

Digitizing on other computer.

This shit never ends. I wish it paid better to own the company.

Turns out the company actually owns me and every waking moment.

Maybe next year we will actually be profitable. At least we have survived the first year of existance.

I'll be working on Friday, Saturday and Sunday too. And Monday, Tuesday. . . . .

You can make it what you want it. And once you're profitable it's all yours.

Also, I just got a big promotion. And the Assistant Director is having a baby, actually right this minute, so I've taken on her responsibilities. So I'm here til 5:00 or 5:30 making sure our programs stay funded.

Thank-you! I've been on this site quite a bit, especially during the campaign, but I'm new to posting. It's always nice to hang out with Dems/Liberals. I was a major part of securing the largest margin of win FOR Kerry of any county in TN. My first campaign involvement and we pulled it off locally in a red state.

43. I don't have much vacation time and
I'm actually getting stuff done today. I love days when everyone else is home. Then I can work without interruption (except for the DU break every now and then.) TG dinner isn't until 5:00 tomorrow, so I don't have to be home to prepare. Plus, I commute by ferry, so traffic isn't a consideration.
