Tony is semi-freaking about his folks coming... HELP!
This will be their 1st holiday with us, and he wants everything to be PERFECT for their visit. I don't understand his case of 'nerves', because they're perfectly lovely people, but he's as nervous as a whore in Church. He's done everything but wax the cat, and if he dusts any more, he'll start rubbing the varnish off of things.

Suggestions?

1. Let him wax the cat
That'll calm him down.

5. have him take some calming breaths
Have a great Holiday, you two! :hi:

All will be well. I assume his parents aren't the type to go around with a white glove. My parents aren't like that in the least, and it is a very good thing. Besides, I suspect no one would complain with the cooking skills that will be evident.

18. Could be entertaining...
A friend tells of the first time he tried to wash his cat. Unfortunately he thought about it first. He climbed into the shower with the cat, having prepared in the usual way for a shower. He closed the sliding door, and turned on the water.... The result is left as an exercise for the reader....

The cat did eventually forgive him (bribery helped). He eventually forgave the cat. We presented him with a (matted even) blowup of the garfield cartoon which has John putting on football gear and welding gloves, then in the next frame filling the washtub.

How about having him alphabetise the CD's? Weed the filing cabinet? Catalog all the video tapes? (not just label them, but make a master list of whats on each tape)

24. Goes with the territory
Holidays and family coming. Since I'm usually the holiday loon in my house, I'd say just be supportive. And maybe compliment all the little details, the stuff he's been working on for days. Maybe if you make a fuss out of everything that's right, he'll quit worrying about everything he "forgot" to do. Have fun!!

26. I'll bet
Those tablecloths and napkins really need another hit with the iron.

Wait - is that a smudge I see on the window? Better do 'em all, to be safe.

You mean your cans are NOT arranged alphabetically?

You know when it says to "rinse the rice" it means each grain, right?

That frig is not gonna clean itself out, buster.

Have you sanitized the lint filter in the dryer lately?

Did you know you CAN vaccuum the driveway?

If there's dust on the lightbulbs, you're not really ready for company.

If you hurry, the fumes from painting the inside of all the closets will be gone by the time they get there.

30. Ha!
I don't have to. I'm a Mom and we Moms can ALWAYS find more things that need to be done. It's our little payback for the labor/delivery thing.

By the way, those Clorox bleach pens and a toothbrush will make that bathroom grout look brand new.

38. Hey Paddy, you and Tony and his parents are going to have
a fabulous Thanksgiving. Give Tony a couple of shots to calm him down and everything will be just dandy.

BTW is it snowing downstate? It's been snowing here in the southwest burbs of Chicago since about noon and there's at least 2 inches on the ground right now. The oul fella just made me take pictures of the trees out in front of the house. It looks real pretty right now. I just love the first snowfall...

39. He's better now.
I poured a couple of drinks down his throat, and he's MUCH more relaxed. Yes, we got a little snow and sleet, but we also got 35 m.p.h. winds, with gusts to 50!

40. Same here as far as the wind goes and the traffic in
Chicago is f'd up big time. Some woman from NBC Channel 5 is trying to get to Detroit, she left her house at 1:30 pm and at 5:00 pm she was as far as Gary on the Skyway.

Oh well, here's hoping you all have a wonderful Turkey Day. I know I will.
