Is there a doctor in the house? I have super glue on my fingers.

They're not stuck together or anything, but my skin feels tight. Pkg. said to soak in warm h2o for 15 minutes and call a doctor.

I've been soaking (typing one-handed!) but I don't have no stinkin' health insurance. And so also no doctor to call.

So what I want to know is, what happens if this stuff stays on your fingers? Would it naturally fall off as skin flakes off and renews itself? Or do I have to find an emergengy room?

Nail polish remover. (acetone)

I don't have any, though. Didn't know if it could be used after the soapy water method.

It will eventually come off if you don't have nail polish remover containing acetone.

. . .if there's a real lot and one doesn't want to peel it there are two things one can do:

1) Let it dry completely and just rub the fingers against a rough surfaced cloth. It will flake off. Acrylates have high adhesion strength and very high tensile strength, but low shear strength, especially under heat. The friction will weaken it due to both the heat and shear.

2) Take some vinegar and little red wine. Put in a touch of liquid drain cleaner (with caustic in it, not sulfuric acid.) Just a drop. Mix it really well. Put in a microwave for about 15 seconds. When it cools, there will be enough ethyl acetate in there to dissolve the polyacrylate.

It also smells good since the most predominant chemical in the smell of lilacs is ethyl acetate. Old table trick for chemists, except we use the candle at the table.

I just let it come off on its own. How much are we talking here, anyway? In any case, it wears off in a few days, and I didn't find it too annoying.

Whenever that happens to me, I just leave it on. Usually the oils your skin produces will make it easy to scratch or peel off after a while. It might feel a little odd for a while, but I don't think it is dangerous. Putting hand cream on it might help, too.

I used to paint it on myself as a kid to see what would happen. Not to worry, it will wear off on its own, or use nail polish remover.

and all of my fingers were glued together. I got it off, but don't remember how. Let me try to retrieve that info.....I know I got it off on my own and didn't go to a doctor.
Sorry, I'll try to remember. It had to be something I had around the house though.

It lets your skin breathe. Hospitals are using it as a "skinless" bandaid and guitarists use it as artificial calluses all the time.

Any hardware store will have super glue solvent. Nail polish remover will also get rid of it.

Er... ah... acetone, I mean. I've glued myself together so many times it's pathetic, RC aircraft building will do that to ya. Apply acetone to the glued area and slowly work your fingers allowing the acetone to penetrate the glue, be patient though, as it can take some time, that way you won't tear the surface layers of your skin.
A minor inconvenience at worst, trust me.

but it won't hurt anything if you leave it. in fact superglue is an excellent product to use to seal up minor cuts, i work on cars and it's great, just superglue the cut closed and then i don't have to worry about grease etc. getting in the cut and infecting things. beats the hell out of stitches.

It's a very small amount. After hearing from janesez who used to paint it on her hands, I guess I'll just let it ride.

Vaseline and it should flake off. It you don't have that, go to the store! Stay away from that super glue for a while! :evilgrin:

Rub the orange skin over the affected areas, so that the 'bubbles' burst and release their content. It is very good for sticky labels and the like, so it may work for super glue. Fingers crossed for you, that one of these suggestions works for you.:)
